Why we built this

Children are already using AI.

Whether parents are ready or not, children are using AI. Sometimes through products that are built for adults and have no business being in front of a seven-year-old. Sometimes through products that are technically for kids but were designed by teams who never thought hard about what "for kids" actually means.

Kindra is what happens when you start from the family instead of starting from the AI. From the wellbeing of the child. From the visibility a parent actually needs. From the way children learn and wonder and ask questions that get harder every year.

It is built on the same memory and safety infrastructure that powers GearHead AI, but the product feels nothing like a business tool. It is built for a different audience, with different defaults, different controls, and different priorities.

Three things at the center

The design principles that shape every part of Kindra.

The child

Age-appropriate from the first interaction. Curious, encouraging, never talks down. Tuned to support how children actually learn instead of making things too easy. Grows up with the child.

The parents

Real visibility and real control. Weekly summaries of what your child is exploring, configurable content boundaries, transparency that scales appropriately with the child\'s age. Not surveillance. Support.

The relationship

Designed to bring families together around learning, not isolate children with a screen. Suggests offline activities, encourages questions to parents, and never positions itself as a replacement for human connection.

What you can count on

Promises we are making in writing.

Before Kindra is in any family\'s hands, here is what we are committing to.

Children are not the product

No advertising in Kindra. No data sales. No training of third-party AI models on children\'s conversations. Family plan pricing covers the cost of running the service, period.

Age-appropriate from minute one

Content boundaries are not opt-in features for parents to discover. They are the default. The first conversation a child has with Kindra is already appropriate for their age, with parents able to tune from there.

Designed to be put down

Kindra actively encourages offline time, parent conversations, hands-on learning. It does not use engagement-maximization tactics. The metric of success is not screen time. It is what a child does after their conversation ends.

Parents stay in charge

Parents and guardians have meaningful, configurable control over what Kindra does and does not do for their child. Content limits, time limits, transparency settings. Younger children get more parental visibility. Older children get appropriate privacy graduation.

Real research before we ship

We are building this carefully and slowly, with input from child psychologists, educators, and parents. We would rather take an extra year to get this right than ship something that is wrong for children.
